Alka Raghuram

Alka Raghuram is an award winning filmmaker and a multidisciplinary artist. She was awarded the L’Oreal Woman of Worth Filmmaker Award at Tribeca All Access for her script The Conqueror about a young boy accused of stabbing a monk at a Buddhist monastery. The story explores grief, revenge and the idea of justice.

She frequently collaborates with other artists to create narrative performances and installations. Some of her collaborations include Yatra with Kathak and Flamenco Dancers Pandit Chitresh Das, and Antonio Hidalgo Paz”; Lost and Found with Sculptor John Sutti, and a photo, video and art installation Inspired by Burqa Boxers at the Locarno Film Festival. She is currently working on a documentary called “Lost” about two mothers coming to terms with their sons’ mental illness.

Her short films –fiction, experimental, and documentary, have been showcased in festivals in the US and abroad.
